Dr. Brian Niemeyer was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado Boulder in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology. He continued his academic career at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, where he obtained his doctorate in immunology. His thesis focused on how viruses infect immune cells and set up a dormant state known as latency. Since receiving his doctorate, Brian has continued his studies of viruses, the immune system, and how the two intersect.
Outside of science, Brian has a passion for baking, trying new restaurants, and reading. His favorite genres are science fiction, mystery, and fantasy.
