Has Anyone Tried A Weighted Blanket Either For MS Or For Another Condition?
Weighted blankets are exactly what they sound like — they're heavy blankets (typically 15 pounds or more) filled with a material such as plastic pellets. The theory is that the deep pressure you feel from being under all of that weight has a calming effect.
Ive used a weighted blanket made with a velvety chamois material for two years now and it is the best way to stop the spasticity at night. I put it away in early summer though because it got too hot and just recently retrieved it from the attic. Unfortunately, my dog slept on it a few times before I had packed it away and for some reason the dog smell got stronger in the heat. It was kind of hard to wash and the smell didn’t totally come out, but Fabreeze helps.... ( I’d rather smell my dog directly than second-hand.) I’m hoping to get a cooling weighted blanket next summer. My husband will attest it has stopped me from “fidgeting and twitching,” as he calls it, so much that it wakes him up.
I saw online some of those weighed blankets are also cooling blankets, so that may work, I wonder.
Kahki, I am going to order one, for the overheating issue, I saw that some of them are also cooling blankets:)
I like the weighted blanket, it keeps me from fidgeting so I sleep better, it can get hot though, sometimes I end up with it next to me like a body pillow, which supports you while sleeping on your side
Sarah when I ordered it there were two weights available and I picked the less expensive one, they’re pricey $$ If you order from target and have a red card they will deliver for free!!!
